Its coat can come in several varieties including a wavy coat, a smooth short coat (considered a fault for showing due to a recessive gene through breeding), a corded coat (recognized by AKC and CKC) or curly coat. Traditionally, the Havanese has a soft double coat under an outer coat that can grow as long as 6-8 inches long. Coats may be white silver, black, blue, cream,tri or particolored.
