During the 1970s when many and after many Cuban families had arrived in the U.S. in the 1960s. Mrs. Goodale collected 11 Havanese that were papered to create the American bloodline in 1974.In the 1980s a long-haired version appeared in Germany. Dog registries began recognize the breed as of 1991. This is a healthy breed although it cannot participate in competitions.
